Although Emma was already skeptical about Santa Claus at age 5, 5yo Amelia still believes. Memories of her own undesirable behavior apparently weigh on her mind this time of year, as daddy and I realized when we came across this letter she had written to Santa:

Dear Santa, Please tell me that i won't get a lemp of coal & Please tell me that i will get a new Slinky for Cristmas. And your the wisest guy in the world! & the one who knows everythig - like who Amelia (smiley face) is good or Adam [a classmate] is bad or extra good (smiley face in heart) me on the hart team.

The girls usually write notes to Santa online and Santa responds a day or so later. Amelia's note was filled with holiday cheer and tidbits about life at the North Pole, and she was thrilled.
"I got a good letter," she shouted, jumping up and down, letter in hand. What a relief.
