For Valentine's Day, I brought my daughters a small box of Sweethearts conversation hearts candy. Yum! Or at least, I thought they were yummy. Neither girl was terribly impressed.
A few days later, I spied Amelia's half-eaten box of candies on the kitchen counter, and well, I ate them. Yum! I knew she would never ask for them, since she didn't like them anyway.
Minutes later, she walked into the kitchen and unwrapped a slightly delayed gift from a friend. The gift was a book. A valentine-themed book, called Max's Valentine. The book featured--yes--Sweethearts! Aaaagh! Of course, Amelia demanded her candy immediately.
Fortunately, her big sister was persuaded to share. Next year, I'll remember not to take "Be Mine" so literally. :)
