Lately, I've had trouble reading from a printed page. The words look blurry. I stop, rub my eyes, try again, same problem. When I mentioned the problem to my husband, he suggested that I push my glasses to the tip of my nose, hold the book farther away, and try again. Et voila! the blurriness resolves into perfectly legible text. I haven't been so depressed by a solution since my cough was cleared up by a daily application of nose spray (yuk).
Now I have to decide--keep futzing with the glasses & book position, or get measured for bifocals?

I think you're around my age, Beth, or a little younger. I'm 43 and have had no-line bifocals for 2-3 years. My optho said that the average age for first bifocals is 41. The no-lines are fine and didn't take any time to get used to. Could also be that you could get by with a pair of cheapie reading glasses. And yeah, I'm all over the nose spray thing too. No Geritol yet, though.

Rochelle, thanks for the good news about easy bifocal adjustment. I had no idea that avg bifocal age was 41. Guess I'm right on schedule.

Yeah, I've known for about five years now that I would eventually need bifocals, just because of the way my vision impairment has progressed. I keep wondering what year is going to be the year, though.
