« Should I buy an iPod? | Main | iPod Update »

I bought one!

Well, I went to the campus computer store today to buy the 20g iPod and they were out of stock--fitting end to a crummy day (best part of my day happened first thing in the morning when I lost $1 in a soft drink machine).

Then, my husband spotted a 40g iPod + HP at BJs Wholesale Club tonight, and he bought one for me!  I hope I love it as much as the rest of you love your iPods.  I tend to suffer from buyer's remorse . . . particularly for decisions I spend lots of time thinking about.  Before any buyer's remorse has a chance to set in, though, I'm going to buy Anapod software and a RadTech sleeve (assuming I can decide what color sleeve!)  And maybe a cassette adapter for my car.  And anyone want to recommend better earplugs?  :)

The iPod is charging in the dock right now, and is it cute!  I even loved unpacking the box--it felt like unwrapping a present, with surprises unveiled layer by layer.  I'm starting to see why there's an Apple cult.

Update:  I bought the sleeve but downloaded just the trial version of Anapod . . . for now.  Can't figure out which cassette adapter will be reliable, so I've decided against buying that online (easier to return something I get from a local irl store).  And I found the Shure earphones that everyone likes, but I'm afraid they're out of my price range.  The question now is How Long will it take me to get my cds onto it?

Congratulations!

I would recommend, instead of the cassette adapter, doing the FM transmitter adapter. Slightly better sound quality, I think.

Have fun!

We ruled out the FM transmitter -- although it's very cute -- because here in Boston there are so many radio stations there's hardly a free place for the iPod to broadcast to. And, low-cost car that we drive, we don't have a cassette deck or MP3 jack, so we don't yet have a good way to take the iPods on the road.

Mrs Philocrites has a Marware case with an armband for her Mini; I have an iSkin sleeve with the little belt clip for mine.

My Mac loads a CD in about 3 minutes, and songs transfer from iTunes to the iPod really fast. It took me several minutes to figure out how the control wheel and menus worked, but I've been very happy ever since. Enjoy!

Congrats on the purchase, hope you're happy with it.

I bought my iPod along with my PowerBook, and I spent the first three days at home with them loading CDs every moment I had the chance to do so. Then I had two more rounds of a day or two of loading CDs a little further down the road, but like I said yesterday, I now have almost my entire music library on the laptop and the iPod.

That sleeve for the iPod looks really cool--think I'm going to order one too.

Good choice w/ the Radtech sleeve. I bought their screen protector for my iBook and its probably the best investment I made after the computer itself.

No, you're not the last person on earth without an MP3 player: http://aprendizdetodo.com/toys/?item=20050104

I am apparently now the last person on earth without an MP3 player!

Looking forward to reading your personal review!

So how's the iPod so far? How much music you got on it now?

Yay! I love, love my iPod. It's unnatural, I know. I can't help it.
