Amelia is taking Infant Swimming Resource classes, as Emma did before her. These 15-minute daily classes are survival lessons, not "have fun in the water" lessons, a distinction that is clear from day one. Amelia is very proud of her aquatic accomplishments, and away from the pool, happily tells us, "I wore my 'wim diaper! I swam to the teacher! I grabbed her hand! I held my bref!" and so on. But when she is in the water, she complains vociferously.
During her very first lesson, she clocked the longest sentence she has spoken so far:
I want to get out of the 'wimming pool!
Nine heartfelt words. Who knows what she'll be able to say by the time the lessons are finished?
