I need help with my links. I find that my blog is becoming my preferred place to keep links, but sometimes I just want to store the links for future teaching, research, etc., without necessarily commenting on them. My browser "favorites" lists are now too complex to be useful and I never seem to have the favorite I need on the computer I'm using. Not only that, it's difficult to find links that I distinctly remember bookmarking a semester or two earlier. The more I teach online, the more my links overwhelm me.
Del.icio.us seems to be the popular choice for people in my predicament, but on first glance, it seems a little rough, plus it has been unavailable 3/4 times I've looked for it. Does anyone know more about del.icio.us or about hyperlinkomatic, furl, or spurl? What features should I look for in a bookmark manager?

I am not sure if this is the feedback you were hoping for, but my husband has used many programs and he loves del.icio.us. He has not experienced the problems you reported. Just thinking "out loud," but hubby doesn't use Internet Explorer, maybe that's the issue?

Could be. I use Internet Explorer and have been wondering if I should switch to Firefox or something . . . but unfortunately, IE is (reportedly) most compatible with WebCT, the software I teach in. But I haven't seriously tried any of these link managers. I'll have to give del.icio.us another look. Thanks!

Hello Beth,
My name is Lara Stefansdottir and I am a consultant on use of ICT in education in Iceland.
I have started to use Spurl recently and now consulting teachers how to use it in their classroom. Furthermore I will be letting my students (age 16-20) use it as well in their work. For me it is a treasure to be able to "Spurl" an article or web page, categorize it and have it accessible. Furthermore to have RSS to a certain category at a given blog page is great.
Look forward talking more to you about it!
Kær kveðja
Lára
