Amelia loves the animated tv show "Maggie and the Ferocious Beast," as did her sister before her. As it happens, we have a cute "Beast" stuffed toy who is a bit larger than Amelia. Because of his size, he resides on top of Emma's dresser. The other night, after her bath, Amelia noticed him there, and started hollering, "Beast! BEEEEEAAST!"
David hugged her and said, "Beast has gone night night. It's night night time." Anything to help her catch the bedtime spirit.
Then he put Amelia down and began doing some other household chore, figuring that Amelia would toddle over to me and ask to go to bed. (Yes, she often does this. But what she wants is for me to lie next to her on our bed so she can nurse. She doesn't really want to go to sleep, alas.)
Instead, though, Amelia stood in the doorway to the nursery shouting, "Beast! Wake up! Wake up! Beast!" Of course, Beast didn't wake up. Amelia was heartbroken, bereft. Before we knew it, she was dissolved into tears, telling us, "Beast night night! Beast sleep!" She was inconsolable.
So, as any indulgent parent would do, I took Beast down from his perch and brought him to bed so she could nurse with Beast lying next to her. She would periodically turn, poke him, and say, contentedly, "Beast." "Beast is sleeping," I would reply. And she would point to his open eyes and explain, "Beast wake up!"
Tonight, again, she noticed the beast. "Beast! wake! Wake! WAAAAKE!!!" Amelia said. She is now happily lugging him around the house.

Where did you find the beast? My 5 month old son loves him.
